Freshie Adventures 2: Megaworld Recruitment Process Insights

Megaworld Corporation has the fastest recruitment I ever encountered – or maybe I was processed on a Saturday so there weren’t many applicants that day. Anyways, for all the aspiring applicants who wish to land a job in Megaworld (like ME!), here’s what I have for you. 🙂

Its HR Department is in Ground Floor, The World Centre, Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati. If you are coming from Cavite (specifically in Pala-pala), you can take the Bus going to Lawton, get down at Dela Rosa, take the jeep going to Bel-Air or Washington – you’d see The World Center on your right. That’s the tall-glass building with the Megaworld Logo. You’ll see a list of all the companies at the front of their building and I think Megaworld is at the top of that list.

I originally applied for Purchaser, Management Analyst, and Sales Development Officer but was offered for a position Accounts Management Specialist. It’s a good start for my career and it gave me a bigger chance to get to the company so I told the HR I could consider. He assured me that if I wasn’t accepted for the position, he would endorse me to the department which I originally applied to. So it’s a win-win situation!

Their recruitment process consists of 5 stages:

  • Registration/ Filling out Application Form

Once you get there, they would ask for your CV and you have to fill-out their Application Form. There is an essay part on the back so I advise you to be ready with your answers. 😉

  • Examinations (Paper and Pen)

Their pre-employment examination is about language, logic, and an aptitude test. You have to finish the whole exam in 15 minutes.

  • Initial Interview

Since the position I considered was an ASAP hiring one, I proceeded with the initial interview once they released my scores in the examinations.

These are the questions I was asked:

  1. Tell me something about yourself.
  2. Why did you choose to study [your course]?
  3. Among your majors, where are you excelling?
  4. Where are you currently residing?
  5. With whom are you residing?
  6. How many are you in your family?
  7. If you would be offered a job in Megaworld, what is your standard travel time? What will be your ways of travelling (commute or by car)?
  8. Are you willing to work in Uptown BGC?
  9. Are you willing to work on Saturdays?
  10. Are you willing to render overtime?
  11. When can you start?
  12. What are your strengths?
  13. What are your weaknesses?
  14. What is your expected salary?
  15. Would you like to ask me anything?
  • Second Interview

I was directed to their office at the 28th floor for the second interview. The ambience was very different from the office at the ground floor. That’s where my fear kicked in – heh, but I stayed as calm as I could so I wouldn’t stutter in my interview. My interviewer was the HR of their Accounting Department and she asked the following questions:

  1. Tell me something about yourself
  2. You are originally applying for Purchaser, Management Analyst, and Sales Development Officer. Why the sudden change? ( Well, I just had to be honest on this and told her I was just endorsed to apply for the position)
  3. You wrote P15,000 for your expected salary, why is that? Why not P14,000, why not P16,000?
  4. Where did you get your data (for the salary)?
  5. Tell me something about your OJT
  6. What can you contribute to the company?
  7. Why should we hire you?

My interviewer was quite intimidating because she kept on “mmm-ing” (in a doubting manner) whenever I answered her questions but I kept composed and just got through the interview. Not me, interviewer, not me. :3

  • Final Interview

PS. It’s less than a week after my second interview with them (JobStreet said it has an average of 2 weeks of processing time) and I am waiting for a call for my final interview. All hopes for Megaworld! 🙂

I have an update blog about this. Click below and let’s go there! ♥

  2. Hi! I’d like to ask if Megaworld Cebu follows the same application process? My interview would be tomorrow and I’m nervous as fvck. By the way, what position they offered you? And did you have prior background to it ex. course?

    • Hi I’m not sure about Megaworld Cebu but I have a positive feeling they follow the same procedure as this 🙂 Will this be your first job in case? Don’t be! Just be confident and claim it because God will definitely lead you to the greatest plans He has for you 🙂 I was offered Accounts Payable Position but I insisted to apply for the Purchaser position since this is the nearest to my course – Business Operations Management. What position are you applying for? I think they are very certain when it comes to positions like Quality Control, Contracts Engineer, Design Team (Architecture), and the likes. Best of luck!!! xxx

    • Hi Emma, I got just a little bit lower than my expected salary. But it reached my expectations when I was regularized 🙂 I think they will offer you 15k – 16k. It depends on your skills and how good you negotiate with your expected salary. If you live in the province and got accepted in MW (I do hope so!), do know that we are transferring to Uptown, BGC, Taguig so you should search for somewhere to live in Kalayaan or Taguig area.

I am in Procurement Department and the opportunities are great! Although it’s a lot challenging than usual, you can learn a lot from your work 🙂 Also, MW provides good training opportunities for their employees.

Let me know if you decide to apply in MW, maybe I can help! Best of luck :*

Ahm.. Is it advisable to walk-in and apply to their office or maybe do they have a recruitment email account where i can send my resume?
I am just thinking maybe i filled the wrong forms on their website, that is why i am asking if you could help me to have their email address. Thank you so much. You are such a big help and encouragement.

    • Hi Marvin! Actually, I did the same thing. I waited for weeks sa JobStreet pero I decided mag door-to-door walk-in na sa Makati hahaha that’s when I got called for initial 1 day processing na the day after. Maybe you should try this also 🙂 Try to walk in sa Uptown Mall Office 🙂 It’s better you know na they got your application rather than hoping day by day kung nakuha na ba nila diba? Best of luck! 🙂
